5/8/2019 0 Comments Final exam sculpture 2Required questions: 1. A tool I really liked to use this semester is the needle tool, because you can add so many details with such a small and third tool, which is really nice, especially for me, since I did a lot of sgraffito this semester. Another tool I liked to work with is the spinning wheel, it makes it easier to add details or paint all the way around, so you don't have to touch your peace, where you just painted or added something, you just spin the wheel. 2. My knowledge has changed a lot in sculpture 2, I learned that there's so much more to sculpture, than just clay. That you can make sculpture out of basically everything, as long as you just have a tiny bit of creativity. And with help from others then you can make something great. What I really liked about sculpture 2 was that you were more independent, so you really learned how to do stuff yourself. Pick 3 questions: 1 question: Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in the course? Please explain. - The least important one would be the paper rolls abstract, it was a pretty easy project since all we had to do was to roll magazine papers and glue them together, I don't feel like I learned from that project. 2 question: What is your least favorite material to work with and why? How did you deal with it, what didn’t you like about it. Please explain. - I really hated working with paper mache, ven though you can do so much with it, it's still very gross to touch and it can be hard because the inside can mold etc. But I still made a cute piece this semester out of paper mache. A way to deal with it if you think it's gross is that you can wear gloves. 3 question: Choose a place or artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a personal connection too. Please explain. - The shoe I made of aluminum foil has a personal connection to me, because I absolutely love shoes. I have more than 25 pairs of shoes at home, I love love love shoes!!! And then I actually really like working with aluminum foil. I like clay as well, but the thing about aluminum foil is that you don't get dirty hands, so that's nice.

5/8/2019 0 Comments WEARABLE SCULPTUREFor my wearable sculpture I made a shoe out of aluminum foil. It is a bit hard to see on some of the pictures, but I made shoelaces, and some other details as well. To make it all stick together I used hot glue. I love shoes so much, which is why I chose to make a shoe.
5/8/2019 0 Comments SURREALISTFor the surrealist project i made a dining set with a cup, a plate, a knife, a fork and a spoon, but to make it surrealistic I made spikes on all of it, so you can really use it
4/12/2019 0 Comments Paper Rolls AbstractThis week i finished my paper roll abstract project. I rolled around 300 pages, and made a bridge that is 5 feet long ash, and 20 inches tall. To make it stick together I used hot glue for some of it, and tape for some of it.
4/5/2019 0 Comments Pouring vesselThis first week of the 4th quarter
I started with the pouring vessel. It turned out very well. And then I made 4 cups. I did the clay slaps, but I really didn't like them. So I made two new cups on the wheel. They're not perfect, but they're fine. They don't look like each other, but I kinda like that. It's all ready to be fired. I also started the new project paper rolls abstract 3/20/2019 0 Comments Object to art/sculptureI made a spray bottle into a penguin. I put paper mâché on it, and the head has aluminum foil inside. The wings are the cardboard thing from the inside of a paper towel roll. The same for the little tale and the mouth. And then i painted it.
3/12/2019 0 Comments RepetitionIn my repetition project, I decided to make a boat out of straws, and the sail is made out of paper towels. I used clear tape and hot glue to make it stick.
2/27/2019 0 Comments UnderglazesSo I choose to do the sgraffito. Though I made a big mistake it turned out well. I made a butterfly, so it would match the flower I have at home on my plate from sculpture one. My mistake was, that instead of underglaze, I accidentally used glaze, and then i put 5 layers, so it got really thick, and something this simple ended up taking more than 6 hours. But I am happy about my result, and can't wait for it to get fired.
**Post will be updated when the piece is completely finished. 2/27/2019 0 Comments Inspired artistThe artist I got inspired from is Brian Rochefort. He make such cool sculptures. I really like what he's doing with the glazes on top of each other with different textures. I really really love it, it is so cool!! It's like a 3D on a 3D piece. All those amazing details and different colors, he made a simple cup into a beautiful piece. About Brian Rochefort: - He lives and works in Los Angeles. - He works with glazes and clay. - He is 34 years old. - He is currently included in the museum exhibitions Regarding George Ohr at Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida and From Funk to Punk at Everson Museum of Art in New York, both in 2017. - He does not have a web page. What inspires me is not just one thing about the piece, it's how he can turn a simple cup into something like this. I mean look at all those different colors, and all those amazing details. It looks like the glaze is dripping some places, and and then there's some texture in every "drip". Theres no empty "naked" space on it. And that he can get it all to go together, without making it look like it's too much. 1/25/2019 0 Comments ReinterpretationWEEK ONE: The picture below is the picture i choose to make a piece from. My vase is ready to get fired. (I would post picture of sketch, but it won't upload). So my idea is a vase with all the colors on the pictures, and then the orange and blue on the side, is gonna be small handles/wings on my vase. WEEK TWO: I've been sick with a concussion all week, and the piece haven't been fired yet. So no progress this week. WEEK THREE: My piece was fired and i glazed it. It got critiqued and I took it home. I chose this picture because I liked that there was a lot of different colors. Process: I made a vase, by doing the "snake" method. I added the wings/handles by cutting them out from a slap. I smoothed it all and after it was fired I glazed it. Artist: Kenneth Noland Title: Tide Medium: Clay |
