1/10/2019 0 Comments MOSAIC1. I couldn't find anything do to, so I looked online for some mosaic pieces and then suddenly it hit me, a pineapple, and then I wanted some details, so I choose palms inside, because pineapples reminds me of a place with palms.
2. This wasn't such a hard project, but I think the hardest thing was to match the colors, because I don't feel like you can see what my piece is, and I think it is because of the palms and the colors. 3. I honestly don't really find this project/piece successful, because I don't feel like you can see that my piece is a pineapple, unless you know it, so next time/another time, I would do another "theme", think about the colors and less details

12/8/2018 0 Comments FINAL EXAMPART 1. Required question 1; 1: The first tool I have used is the pottery wheel. It is a really hard tool to use, but when you first learn how to use it, it is very helpful. With the wheel you can make a perfect round shape that is exactly the same all the way around, so it isn't dented. And when you trim it, then it is also easier to make it looks the same, which makes the piece prettier. So the purpose with it, is tom make perfectly round shapes/bowls/vases. How to use the wheel: You get some clay and punch it to male sure there's no air in it, and then you make it cone shaped, and throw it on the wheel. Then you have a pedal, that regulates the speed. The more you step, the higher the speed. Now you have to make sure that your clay is sealed to the wheel, so it doesn't fall off. Then you start center it and then you can start making a small cylinder, and put your thumbs in the middle, so it starts being a bowl or vase. Then you start shaping it, how tall, small, wide or whatever shape you want it. When you're done with your piece, you take it of the wheel with wire, and let it dry a little bit. When it's a little dry, you can start trimming it. The second tool I have used is the sponge. The sponge is a helpful and useful tool in many ways. You can use the sponge to smooth things out with, in clay. And you can use it when you're painting, to make cool patterns. I have only used it for clay. I used it for my sgraffito piece, my throwing on the wheel piece, my little bowl, my tripod mug. The piece looks ay better when it's smoothed out. How to use a sponge: You get a tray or bowl, just something that can contain water. The n you put the sponge in the water. Before you start putting the sponge on your piece, make sure it is not too wet, that can ruin your piece. And then you basically just start smoothing out your piece. The third tool I have used is a needle tool. The needle tools is the perfect tool to make details with. The needle tool is very small, thin and sharp, which makes it easier to make the details. Fx. when I did my tripod mug (a panda). I wanted to add fur, so it was more realistic, and thats what i used the needle tool for. (look at the picture below). How to use a needle tool: You just carve in your piece with the needle tool, but you have to be a little careful, don't do it to hard. Required question 2; After this one semester I have learned how to use a lot of tools, how to make a good texture, and I have learned from my mistakes. In sculpture it's easy to learn from your own mistakes. Because every time something went wrong, you just know not to do that next time - or to be more careful about it. And I loved everything I learned, so I'm taking one more semester, so I can learn even more about sculpture. Before I had sculpture, I knew nothing about it, and now I can do a lot by myself. In the picture below I tried different textures, the first is a tree, the second is clouds and the third is fur. It's amazing what you can do with clay. Optional questions; Question 1: What was your favorite material that you used this year? Why do you like working with it? My favorite material this year was definitely clay! I like all the things you can do with it, and how you can make a lot of details. And it's not as gross as paper mache. I especially when it's all new clay, then it's really nice to touch, and way easier to do something with it. You can smooth it, and if you did a mistake, you can "re-do" it, if you use some water (but not too much!). Question 2: Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. My most successful project was definitely my solo paper mache bee and beehive. It was really realistic and it was way better than i expected it to be. The process: The first thing I did was that I took some foil and made it looks like a bee. Then I added some wire, as the legs, and then added foil on the legs. Then I could add the paper mache. When the paper mache was dry i started painting it. Then i added wire as the antenna. I made the wings with wire as the boarder and tissue paper with a lot of glue, to make it a little clear but still wire, and glued them on the back of the bee. After all this I made the beehive/hexagons. I cut some small pieces of cardboard and glued them together, then i painted it all yellow, and added yellow tissue paper with a lot of glue on the back of the bee hive, so it looked like it was filled with honey. Question 3:
Which project was your least successful? Explain why you consider this work of art unsuccessful? If you were to create this project over, what changes would you make? My least successful project was definitely the pit fire project, no doubt about that! The reason why it was awful, was because I added glue on the side, I thought it would let the things (dog food and hair etc.) stay on the side of my piece, so there would be colors all over it, but instead the glue just burned on my piece so my piece got all black and the hair and food was still stuck on it. Which I'm really sad about, since this was the project I was most excited about, and then I ruined it all. If I could do this piece over, I would not add any glue at all! And i really hope i get the chance next semester. 12/7/2018 0 Comments THROWING ON THE WHEEL1. You punch some clay and then you cone shape it, so you can throw it on the wheel. Then the first thing you do is that you center it, and then start shaping it round. To make a bowl/vase, you have to but your thumbs in the middle, and push it down, Now you can start shaping it tall, small, wide or whatever shape you want.
2. The hardest thing was to keep it centered and that you can't put too much water but you can't have too less either. 3. I found it successful that I actually made one, because it was really hard. 12/7/2018 0 Comments PAPER MACHE SOLO PROJECTI made a bee and it's hive.
1. I started looking up pictures, and used foil to form the body. Then I used wire as legs, and wrapped foil around them. Then i added the paper mache all over it, and then i painted it. The hive is small pieces of cardboard glued together and then painted. After that i used a lot of glue and tissue paper, to make it looks like the hive is filled with honey. 2. Overall my piece is a success. I LOVE IT. 3. The hardest thing to do, was definitely to make the legs. It took a long time, and was really hard to make the right shape, put foil around and then paper mache. 12/7/2018 0 Comments SGRAFFITO IN PROGRESS- I got the idea because I love flowers
- I took a plate and put clay on it. Then i trimmed it and smoothed it out. Put a couple layers of underglaze on it. Printed out a picture of a flower, and started scraping on the paper, and then without the paper. Then i glazed it again so it got shiny. - I really liked doing the sgraffito, i didn't think it would be this good.I'm really happy with my piece, the only thing i would change would be the middle, I'm not 100% happy with that, there's just something about that i don't like. 10/30/2018 0 Comments Butterfly group project in progress1. My group is the yellow table (Mason, Bella, Doug, Tilde and I). I feel like Tilde and I have done most of it, almost everything. Doug hasn't really done anything. Bella did a little, but not much, and Mason tried. But the butterflies would not have been there if it wasn't for me and Tilde. Mason and Tilde were cutting most of the cardboard at first. But after that, it has been me and Tilde who did almost all the paper mache. We tried to help the other, but it was really hard because they just put on some paper mache without really thinking about smoothing it out or anything. Tilde and I put the wings together on both butterflies. We did the whole butterfly to the right, and tried to help with the one to the left.
2. We cute some cardboard and builded it up so it had a form, then we used paper towels to make some 3d looks. Then we started putting paper mache around it, and glued the wings to the body. Then we almost covered both butterflies with paper mache. 3. The hardest thing was to get the wings on the body. The most succesful is the butterfly to the right. 10/30/2018 0 Comments Pit fire piece in progressI did clay slap at first, and then it got fired. After that i putted hair, food and salt on my piece, and wrapped it with foil, then we burned it, and it didn't went so well. So now i'm gonna fire it again, with nothing around, to see whats gonna happen. I was so excited for this, so i really hope that my piece is gonna work the second time.
10/18/2018 0 Comments Tripod cup1. Process:
1. i made a sketch of what i wanted my mug/cup to look like. 2. i rolled some clay out and startet rolling the clay together. 3. i startet to make the 3 "legs" og the cup by making a triangle with my hand and do it on the clay 4. i added the ears. 5. i wanted some 3d, so i started adding clay where i wanted the eyes and the nose/mouth. 6. i added a tail on the back. 7. started making the handle so it could stay in it's form while doing step 8. 8. startet adding the fur by taking a needle tool and add it. 9. added the handle to the mug/cup. 10. it got fired. 11. started glazing it with clear and black. 12. got fired again. 13. heated it up so i could add more glaze. 14. got fired again. 15. done. 2. the handle i just made a normal handle, i took some clay and some water and started to form it. 3. the succesful and changing part the fur was very succesfuld if i could change it i would make it smaller and without a handle so i could use for my makeup brushes, and then i would change it so it would be something else than a panda. 4. clay slap clay slap is that you just take the clay and slap it together 9/25/2018 0 Comments This is my pit fire vase process.I decided to make a tall vase.
I followed these steps: - I drew a sketch of my vase, and how long and tall i wanted it to be. - Then I cut out the slaps, 4 long, and one bottom. - After that I putted some water that have been with clay, on the sides, where i wanted the slap to connect with the other slap. - Now I'm waiting until the clay is a little more dry, so I can start making it shiny with a spoon. I had a problem about my bottom, it was too small, but i made a new bottom. I also had a problem, that my clay was too thin, but i took som more clay and smoothed it out so my vase is thicker now. But the clay is still too soft, so i have to wait until it's a little more dry, so I can use a spoon to smooth it out. I like my vase, and it looks like how i wanted it to be. 9/20/2018 0 Comments The greek vase- This is the "Pelike" vase, it's made out of refined clay. It was used for storage jar and/or transportation of wine and oil. Our story is about how the hurricane/tornado came and ruined peoples houses.
- I drew the vase and the patterns and the house, and colored some of it - I don't understand the last question |
